Mine Antarctica Upgrade Priority — What to Buy First
A sensible upgrade order for Mine Antarctica: group bonus and garden first, Warmth until you stop freezing, then Pickaxe and Backpack in the order your runs demand.
The order that works
Mine Antarctica publishes no upgrade prices, so no guide can give you a cost table. What a guide can give you is an order — one that keeps working even when the in-game shop changes prices. Here it is, from first to never-wrong:
- Free luck, day one. Like the game and join the PolarMine Games group for the official +1 Mining Luck, then start parking spare crystals in the garden. Both are free and permanent.
- Warmth until freezing stops ending runs. The cold is the game’s tax on greed. Buy Warmth until you regularly finish runs with the backpack full instead of a frozen character.
- Then the bottleneck: Pickaxe or Backpack. Whichever ends your run first is the one to buy: veins that won’t crack → Pickaxe; runs that end with Warmth to spare → Backpack.
- Repeat. Each tier pushes you into colder, richer bands — and back to step 2.
The bottleneck test, every run
One run tells you where the next Cash should go. At the end of a run, ask:
| What ended the run? | Buy next |
|---|---|
| Frozen character, backpack half full | Warmth |
| Vein that won’t crack | Pickaxe |
| Full backpack, Warmth to spare | Backpack |
| Sold everything, nothing to buy | You outgrew a tier — climb higher |
Run the test each session and the order maintains itself.
Two habits that act like free upgrades
- The garden. Every spare crystal parked there is permanent digging luck — the closest thing the game has to a free multiplier. See the mining luck guide.
- The hour mark. The hourly zone rotation hands you a fresh zone every hour. Entering it with an empty backpack and top-up Warmth is worth more than any single purchase.
What NOT to spend on (probably)
The official description names exactly three upgrade lines. Things you may see in the in-game shop that the description does not mention — boosts, game passes, cosmetic packs — have no verified values anywhere. The community has reported game passes named “8x Power” and “Instant Mine”, but these are unverified reports; check prices and effects in-game before spending Robux, and see the FAQ for what else remains unverified.
Priority FAQ
- Is there a rebirth system? Nothing in the official description mentions one. If a future update adds rebirths, this guide updates — until then, any site claiming rebirth mechanics is guessing.
- Should I save for the most expensive tier? No reason to hoard: the order above re-evaluates every run, and Cash sitting idle earns nothing — sell, buy, climb.
- When do I stop upgrading? You don’t, until the mountain runs out. Every band of ice costs Warmth and pays in rarer crystals — the loop from the beginner guide just repeats higher up.
